1. On the pictures in rules, the coins around totems are rotated by their little cubes further from the totems. Is the rotation of coins (position of a cube attached to a coin) at the beginning of match always the same, or the rotation is set randomly?

Yes
Quote:
2. In the rules is written that only the playing elements with contact with the surface are valid. If we for example place many coins one onto another, are the coins that contacts only other coins under them valid? Are the coins valid, if they contacts the surface only by their little cubes and the other parts are touching other coins?

Yes to all
Quote:
3. In the drawing of a push button under the bottle, there is not written the length of a wooden rod connecting the push button on the playing field and the outer part with the message. How long is the rod?

I know this point, I'll answer as soon as i have the answer
Quote:
4. If we will have two robots, can (or must) we have two starting cords (one for each robot) and start both robots (with one starting cord in each hand) at the same time? Or we must have only one starting cord that starts one of robots, and this robot must "tell" the other robot that the match had just begun?

You can have two if you want
Quote:
5. If two robots of the same team will collide (or touch), will the team be penalised?

No but take care to make a functionnal avoidance system for each robot
Quote:
- Is there a minimum height for the secondary robot?

No
Quote:
To avoid collisions with the opponent secondary robot, it is important to know that. Is there a beacon support for the secondary robot to detect it by this way?

Like for the primary robot, beacon support is optionnal but strongly recommended
Quote:
- Is it allowed to do other things with the secondary robot as following the line and open the first bottle? For example to open the second bottle of its color? Or to discover the map?

Yes it’s allowed secondary robot can do several actions
Quote:
Maybe i'm missing something but i can't seem to find the height and the width of the walls.

70mm like every year, we forgot this
Quote:
I have 3 questions, the first one, which is the width of the map?

It s A3 format 297 mm × 420 mm
Quote:
the second, is it compulsory to lift up the hold to caught the opponent's elements?

NO
Quote:
third, when the hold is lifted up, then it goes down by it's weight or it's has a mechanism to stay at 45º?

It’ll goes down by its weight
Quote:
lease note that "should" is a prescription, not an obligation.
Usage
Citer:
The perimeter of the Main Robot should not exceed 1200 mm at the time of
departure. The perimeter of the Main Robot fully extended must not exceed 1600
mm during the match.
The perimeter of the Secondary Robot is independent of Main Robot’s. It should not
exceed 800 mm at the beginning and not exceed 1000 mm fully extended during
the match.

So this mean that you can have a bigger robot at the beginning than 1200 mm. In comparison with the french rules, it must be "must".

Yes, it's playing with the words

The robot must not exceed 1200mm at the time of the departure, it’s an error ;)
Quote:
1. On page 9
Citer:
Action
The robot must discover the map by completely removing the piece of fabric of its
team colour. This action earns your team five coins.

Our question is - Must the map discovered before the robots can select the other elements, or with other words, do the selected points count without discover the map?

No
Quote:
2. On page 13
Citer:
The elements within the opponent’s ship’s hold may be taken only if the cover has
been raised up.

When is the cover raised, how wide must it lifted to be openend, the whole 45° or only a few degrees?

You are not obliged to open the cover.
Quote:
To store elements in the own hold, must the cover also raised or not?

No
Quote:
3. Does the border in front of the hold belong to the ship or not, that means are elements valid if they touch the border or not?

Yes border belongs to the ship but take care because the vertical projection of elements must be fully included
Quote:
4. Of which material is the piece of fabric (e.g. cotton or a kind of syntetic material)?

It’ll be made with t-shirts
Quote:
5. Do the elements count if they are bottom up in the ship?

Yes
Quote:
1. We made a few Coins ourself and fixed the cubes with normal glue. After a few tests the cubes disengaged themself from the CD's. Are the cubes of the original Coins strongly fixed to the CDs? Or do we have to pay special attention? (No demolition, that's clear)

It’ll be strongly fixed, we’ll take care of this
Quote:
2. Concerning the treasury Map. Is there any space between the support plank and the piece of fabric? In other words: Is the piece of fabric affixed directly on the plank or on the strips of wood (on the borders)?

It’ll be fixed on the strips of wood

I have some questions about your answers ;) and some questions of my own:

Refereeing referent wrote:

Which one? is the rotation the same or random?

NO

You are not obliged to open the cover.

Is this an official change to the rules then? The rules say you can only steal elements from the hold if the cover has been raised up.

Two further questions of my own:

1: Is it allowed to deposit the black dummy coins in the opponent's ship?

It states on page 17 that:

Quote:
Except in front of his own boat, a Main or a Secondary robot must not block
the robot(s) of the other team. If the referees suspect such action is
intentional, the team may be penalized.

2: Does this mean that a secondary robot could be made that is simply there to 'guard' the ship and perform no other action?

How much force (newtons aproximate) will be necessary to remove the piece of fabric?, because it depends on the kind of Velcro.

Is it know the kind of velcro?

the velcro is going to be put on the corner (4 pieces of velcro of 18x18mm) of the piece of fabric?

hello,

thanks for all your answers, but one point wasn't answerd clear:

Quote:

No

Do you mean: "No - it is NOT necessary to discover the map"
or do you mean: "No - the points of the game don't count without discovered map (we get 0 Points for the match)"

This is a very important point. please give us a very clear answer for this point.

thanks a lot

This is my assumption, too, but it would be nice to get an official response!

On the French Forum, you got this:

it wasn't my assumption, i read it on the french forums with google translate.
btw it sucks that we don't have any information compared to the french teams and i hate to use google translate all the time because it's not really accurate. i try to live with it :(

French referent decided to try something new this year and create this special topic to answer questions. They says that it's going to be generalized (in English i guess) next years if results are conclusive. But to be honest, lots of questions remain without (clear) answers, and the referent come on the topic every two or three months.

I've just had a look at this. I hardly ever venture outside the English language forums because in past years the Refereeing Referent has kept us up to date on here.

http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.planete-sciences.org%2Fforums%2Fviewforum.php%3Ff%3D80

I love the layout of the new topic, it's an excellent idea having a topic per question because these questions threads become massive by the time of the competition. So, why is this only in French?? And why was there not even a link on the English forums explaining where we can find answers if they aren't going to be answered on here any more?

As I said, it's only in French because it was impulse by the French NOC for the "Coupe de France de robotique". It is the same rules as Eurobot, but sometime there are exceptions for example due to French law or certifications.
It's not officials answers for Eurobot, that's why you don't have a link on the English forum.

You say they aren't the official Eurobot answers, but they are currently the only answers to some of the questions here, as the English questions haven't been answered (officially) for over 2 months!

I'm a little confused about how this is all organised. I understand that Eurobot has its roots in the Coupe de France de robotique, but are they organised by the same people? Or is the Eurobot forum just piggy-backing the Coupe de France one for convenience? It's a strange set-up, perhaps a 'legacy' issue, that seems to cause confusion every year. (Last year(?) we had the issue with the French rules being released before the English ones).

I'm hoping that when/if the new eurobot.org website is finished, there will be a clearer divide between the main international competition (Eurobot) and what has now become the French qualifying rounds for Eurobot (Coupe de France de robotique).
